Environment Protection and Green Protocol
Climate change is the main issue that human beings face today. Humans have played a major role in the appearance of the drastic climate change over the last century. Higher Education Institutions can play a unique role in making the coming generations environmental conscious and socially responsible. The Environment Conservation and Green Protocol Committee constituted by the institution aims at educating students on environmental issues. The primary objective of the committee is to make the students informed that environment conservation is a conscious decision.
SCOPE
The policy shall delineate the environment protection activities of the college and shall be relevant to all stakeholders - students, teachers, administrative staff and parents.
CUSTODIAN OF THE POLICY
The Environment Conservation and Green Protocol Committee collaborates with various departments, NCC, NSS and other clubs and committees to implement its policy under the leadership of the Principal and with the assistance of the Management.
OBJECTIVES
- To ensure sustainable practices in campus to reduce air, water and soil pollution in and around the campus.
- To improve cleanliness in and around the campus through eco-friendly waste management system and sanitation scheme.
- To promote the concept of three R’s-Reduce, Reuse and Recycle the waste among students, staff and local neighborhood.
- To instill in students the awareness of the biodiversity in the neighborhood and the responsibility to conserve and protect it.
POLICY
- Environment- friendly activities
- Soil erosion shall be minimized by planting of trees and the quality of soil shall be maintained.
- Planting of trees and nurturing of existing flora shall be encouraged.
GREEN PROTOCOL
- Use of vehicles inside the campus will be restricted to maintain carbon neutrality.
- Students shall not be allowed to bring their vehicles inside and are expected to avail the parking space allotted.
- A systematic waste management system shall be implemented, in which, wastes are collected, segregated, recycled or disposed suitably without harm to the environment. Incinerator and separate waste bins shall be used for this purpose.
