The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1968 with Pre-degree course. B.Sc programme in Mathematics was introduced in 1978. Apart from the complementary course in Mathematics, the department offers “Mathematics for Natural Sciences” as Open Course. There are three permanent faculty in the department. There are around 140 students are studying in the department in every year and the pass percentage is more than 60% every year. The department is currently headed by S/Lt. T.Mohanan, who is in charge of Naval NCC Unit in the College.

The eminent Professors who led the department were R. Gopalakrishna Pillai, Balasubrahmaniam, V.K.Vijayan, Joly Rose, C.V.Ramesan, M.R.Susaji and Sivadasan Thirumangalath. Prof.V.K.Vijayan was the Principal of our College and Dr.Sivadasan Thirumangalath is at present the Principal of SN College Kannur. Sri. Libeesh Kumar.K.B . Former Head of the Department was recently relieved to join as Faculty in Government College through PSC selection. Sri.Vineesh.K.P is the Asst.Professor currently in the department and one post is vacant and occupied by guest faculty.

Sri.Sreejith IPS, Former DGP is one among our former students and Dr. Dileep Kumar was another brilliant student who is now the Director of Mathematical Research Institute in Bangalore.
