Report on Seminar held on 02/02/2026
The Department of Zoology, in association with the internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a seminar as part of Ripples International Multidisciplinary Seminar Series with the theme Technologia 2025, on the topic "From Immunoinformatics to Vaccine Design: Integrating Biology and Technology to Combat African Swine Fever Virus" on 02 February 2026, at the seminar hall, Sree Narayana Guru College, Chelannur.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Aswathi k., Head of the Department of Zoology, followed by the presidential address by Dr. Abhilash E S., Head of the Department of Biology and Botany. Felicitation addresses were delivered by Dr. Athma Jayaprakash, IQAC Coordinator; Dr Aswathi V, Assistant Professor, Department of Biology; and Mr. Sourav Sunil, Union Chairman.
The technical session was led by the resource person, Dr. Dhithya Venkateswaran, Researcher, Veterinary Science and Technology, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, who delivered an insightful talk on the application of immunoinformatics and technological tools in vaccine design to combat African Swine Fever Virus. The programme was highly informative and fulfilled its objective of enhancing awareness about the integration of biology and technology in combating viral diseases like African Swine Fever Virus. An interactive Question and Answer session followed, enabling active participation and discussion.
Three students presented their research papers, enriching the academic value of the seminar. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by dr. Divya P. V., Department of Botany. Overall, the seminar was a great success and proved to be an enriching academic experience for all participants.
Antibiotic Literacy Campaign Exhibition - Zoology Department
As a part of the statewide “Antibiotic Literacy Campaign” an exhibition was successfully organized by the Department of Zoology in association with IQAC at Sree Narayana Guru College, Chelannur on 23 January 2026. The aim of the exhibition was creating awareness about the rational use of antibiotics and the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kumar S P in the presence of faculty members and students. He also delivered a meaningful message, emphasizing the importance of antibiotic literacy in safeguarding public health. Students from various departments actively participated in organizing and presenting the exhibits.

The exhibition was a meaningful and impactful initiative. It effectively fulfilled the objectives by educating students and staff about antibiotic resistance and rational drug use. Such awareness programs play a crucial role in promoting public health and should be conducted regularly to build a well-informed society.
