2019-2020 Activities

• VayanaDinam Celebration - June 2019
  Teachers and students visited around 50 houses in the neighborhood of the college and distributed books to promote reading habits. The Principal, Dr. Devipriya V inaugurated this program.
• M Govindan Birth Centenary Seminar - July 4th  2019
  The seminar was conducted by  the department of Malayalam in collaboration with Kerala Basha Institute.  The program was inaugurated by the famous poet Kalpetta Narayanan and Dr. C J George delivered the keynote address. Mr. N. Jayakrishnan  (Director, Kerala Basha Institute regional centre),  Dr. M P Beena,  Dr. DeepeshKarimpunkara addressed  the programme.
• Geethanjali  Book release seminar – July 29th 2019
  In remembrance of the 110th anniversary of the book,Geethnjali written by Rabindranath Tagore, a book Geethanjali was released which was edited by Sri. N.Jayakrishnan(Director, Kerala Basha Institute regional centre) . The book was released by K. Jayakumar IAS. He also delivered the keynote address. Dr. C Rajendran, Dr. M P Beena, Dr. DeepeshKarimpunkara and Dr. C R Santhosh addressed the audience.
• Ramayana Masacharanam – August 3rd 2019
  A discussion on the novel ‘Perumal’ by RameshanBlathur was conducted by  the department of Malayalam in collaboration with Kerala Basha Institute. Dr. M D Manoj, Asst. Professor, Calicut University, N Jayakrishnan, SreeshylamUnnikrishnan  andRameshanBlathur participated in the discussion.  Dr. DeepeshKarimpunkara was the moderator of the discussion.
• NaadanKalikal - August 23rd 2019
  As a part of the study of folklore, the fifth semester students of the department of Malayalam, organized NaadanKalikal.
• Kerala Piravi – November 1st 2019
  The Department of Malayalam organized a quiz program on the history of Kerala on the occation of Kerala Piravi Dinacharanam. Mr. K. Vysak conducted the quiz program.

2018-2019 Activities

• Football Film Exhibition - June 15th 2018
  As a part of World Cup Football competition in Russia, the Dept. of Malayalam exhibited the film ‘Pele’. The Department also conducted a quiz competition based on football.
• Visiting Cheruvayal Raman
  Students and teachers of the Department of Malayalam, visited the tribal farmer Cheruvayal Raman’s house in Wayanad. This visit helped the students to know about several kinds of paddy seeds and agriculture.
• Teacher’s Day Celebration - September 5th 2018
• Megalithic Monuments Exhibition
  As a part of the golden jubilee celebration of the college, the department of Malayalam organized an exhibition on megalithic monuments especially nannangaadikal, thoppikkallu, kudakkallu etc.
• Naadan Food Festival
  Book Exhibition (In collaboration with Eye Books Kerala, Kozhikode)
• Photo Exhibition
  Photo Exhibition of the writers , actors, politicians and cultural activists.
• Stamp Exhibition
  (From the collections of the ShamlaSherin, 2nd BA Malayalam)
• PattambiKavitha Carnival - 25th January 2019
  Students and teachers of the Department of Malayalam, attended the Kavitha Carnival at Pattambi Govt. College.
• Naattakam- 7th and 8th November 2018
  As a part of the golden jubilee celebration of the college, the department of Malayalam conducted a two day workshop to develop the acting skills of the students. This workshop was presented by ‘Padavu Creative Theatres’, Payyannur.
• Visit to Anganvaadi- 14th November 2018
  The students of the Department of Malayam, visited ChelannurAnganavadi on the Children’s day.
• Kerala Piravi
  The Department of Malayalam organized an intra-college quiz program on the history of Kerala on the occasion of Kerala PiraviDinacharanam. Sri. K. Vaisagh conducted the quiz program. There was also a competition on the Malayalam folk songs and film songs.
• Association Inauguration
  The Malayalam association was inaugurated by the famous Malayalam poet Veerankutty.
• Honoring Dr.V.R.Sudheesh
  The Department of Malayalam honored Dr.V.R.Sudheesh, an eminent Malayalam writer and former head of the Department of Malayalam, who bagged Kerala Sahithya Academy Award in 2018.
• Punaloor Balan Comemmoration
  A seminar was conducted in commemoration of PunaloorBalan, by  the department of Malayalam in collaboration with Kerala Basha Institute at N V Krishnavariyar Hall, Kozhikode.In the program, K.E.N Kunjahammed delivered the keynote address. KarivalloorMurali,Dr. R V M Divakaran, N Jayakrishnan and Dr. DeepeshKarimpunkara addressed the program.
• World Weather Day Celebration
  The students of the department of Malayalam participated in the world weather day celebration conducted by Kerala Basha Institute.Prof. Sobhindran, Dr. Prasad M Alex etc. addressed the program.
• Guruvandanam
  As part of the golden Jubilee celebration of the college, the department of Malayalam participated in the Guruvandanam program conducted in the college. The department also fixed aboard in the department, consisting of the names and the working periods of the former heads and teachers of the department of Malayalam.
• UGC National Seminar
  The Department of Malayalam, conducted a two day UGC National Seminar on Cinema- History, Aesthetics and Culture. About 40 papers were presented in the conference. The seminar was inaugurated by the famous Film Critic I Shanmukhadas. The seminar proceedings was released in the valedictory function of the seminar. Dr. R V M Divakaran, Dr. P V Sivadas and Dr. Thomas Scaria addressed the valedictory function.
