RIPPLES- THE ANNUAL MULTIDISCIPLINARY SEMINAR SERIES
The Annual Multi Disciplinary Seminar Series Ripples 2021 was inaugurated on 9thMay, 2021 Monday. Our Patron is Sri. Vellappally Natesan, Manager, SN Colleges. Ripples 2021 was inaugurated by Dr. Godwin Samraj D.P., Controller of Examinations, University of Calicut. Smt. Athma Jayaprakash, General Convenor, IQAC Coordinator & Assistant Professor in Commerce rendered welcome speech on the occasion. The Presidential Address was given by the Principal Lt. Dr. Sindhu Krishnadas T. Sri. P.M. Raveendran, SN Trusts Executive Member, Sri. Murali K.K., PTA Vice President, Dr.Lesitha K.R., Head of the Department of Botany, Dr. Santhosh C.R., Head of the Department of Sanskrit and Sri. Babu T.P., Secretary, Staff Association rendered felicitation on the occasion. Dr.Joobi V.P., Organising Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.

A Prolegomenon to Post-Structuralism
The PG Department of English conducted an online live session as part of ICTEDIS Programme on 20 September 2021, Monday from 7.00 -8.00 PM. The UG and PG students of the Department attended the session. The Programme Coordinator Smt.Aswathy V(Assistant Professor, PG Department of English) provided an Introduction for the session, emphasizing on the significance of this programme. The Head of the PG Department of English, Dr. J. Maya Devi presided over the session. The resource person of the session was Smt. Gayathri. P, Assistant Professor, PG Department of English. She presented on the topic, “A Prolegomenon to Post-Structuralism” which was insightful. After the presentation, the students were given an opportunity to raise their doubts with respect to the topic under discussion.
Calicut University intercollegiate A-Zone volleyball Championship
The volleyball team of Sree Narayana Guru College, Chelannur won the Calicut University intercollegiate A-Zone volleyball Championship held at Govt. College of Physical Education, East Hill.
International Webinar on Intellectual Property Rights and Biotechnology Patents
The PG Department of Botany conducted an International Webinar in connection with World Nature Conservation Day-2021 on the topic “ Intellectual Property Rights and Biotechnology Patents” on 28 July 2021 from 7.00 -8:30 PM. The guest speaker was Dr. Rex Jeya Rajakumar, a Postdoctoral Associate from Boston University School of Medicine, USA. The students from the PG Department of Botany, the faculty members from SNG College Chelannur, and other college faculty and students were the participants for the webinar, The welcome address for the event was delivered by Smt Lesitha K R, HOD of the PPG department of Botany and she cordially welcomed the guest speaker by giving a short insight into his professional background. The Presidential address was delivered by Dr. Devipriya V, Principal, SNG College Chelannur. Felicitation was done by Smt. Athma Jayaprakash (Assistant Professor and IQAC Coordinator). Finally, after the technical session by the guest speaker, Dr. Megha P U delivered the vote of thanks.
The guest speaker gave a well-explained session on the Intellectual Property Rights system with a special focus on biotechnology patenting and raised awareness among the participants about different IP options. Further during the interaction session, he also explained the procedure to file for a patent and how to open an IPR cell in various organizations. He also suggested that IP can help establish frameworks for collaborations and sharing of insights with external partners. Therefore, IP decisions should be preferably made during the early stages of research. Soon after the session feedback forms through google docs were given to each participant and the feedback regarding the webinar was collected. Also, all participants were given an e-certificate of participation.
52nd Calicut University Athletic meet
In the 52nd Calicut University Athletic meet, Miss Jisna Mathew of Sree Narayana Guru College, Chelannur bagged the Gold Medal in the Women’s 400 metres race, finishing in 55.77 seconds.
World Population Day Observance
World population day is observed on 11 July, which seeks to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. The day was suggested by DR.K.C Zachariah in which population reaches Five Billion when he worked as Senior Demographer at World Bank. On July 11, PG Department of Economics organised a Quiz competition and Seminar in the topic Population-Is it a growing issue? The seminar is presented by Gopika.P,Bhavana P, and Rasiga S.R of second semester B.A Economics. They covered all the issues related with rising population around the world, and the need to control the poulation. They pointed out that in every second 11 people are dying due to starvation around globe. Poverty, unemplyment, environmental degradation, spread of epidemics are related with rising population. The population of India is also growing at an alarming rate next to China. The only positive thing related with indian population is that we have a larger proportion of younger people in productive age. The seminar focussed on the need to provide proper education and training to make these young people into human resources, so that they can contribute towards nations GDP.

SEED Club - Tree Panting Event
As part of celebrating National Environment Day, a week-long tree plantation program was conducted from June 1 to 7thJune. This event was conducted in collaboration with the socio-forestry department, Kerala. Sree Narayana Guru College students helped neighboring communities plant tree saplings and shared the photos with the core team.
RDC Member and Manager Nominee, PM Ravindran, inaugurated the function. College Principal Dr. DeviPriya V and other faculties, staff,and students participated in the event. Alumni of the Sree Narayana Guru College and former NSS volunteers participated in the event. They planted tree saplings and shared the pictures with our core team. The core team collected these photos and created poster events.
Indian Patent Rights: An Overview
.The Innovation Club Webinar for the academic year 2021-22 was conducted on May 06, 2021 in online mode. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal Dr. Devipriya V., in Google Meet, at 7:00 PM. Smt. Sangeetha G. Nair, co-ordinator, Innovation Club, rendered the welcome speech. Dr. Anoop Das K.S., Head and Research Supervisor at the Centre for Conservation of Ecology & Department of Zoology in MES College, Mampad delivered the keynote address. The PowerPoint presentation on the topic ‘Patent Rights: An Overview’ was very much informative and thought-provocative. He spoke on the need to inculcate scientific temper and how to be enthusiastic and innovative in everyday life. His talk was interactive and more than fifty students from various departments participated actively in the session. Smt. Athma Jayaprakash, co-ordinator, IQAC, rendered the felicitation and Smt. Webinar on Intellectual Property Rights by Political Science
A webinar on Intellectual Property Rights in Research was organised by the Department of Political Science on 10/08/2021. Around 100 students from different departments attended the programme. A power point presentation on the subject was given by the resource person Mr. Abhilash K. T. Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, SN College, Chempazhanthy. Students had an interactive session. All the students got an idea on IPR related issues in research, copyright, plagiarism etc. queries were addressed with clear explanation. Smt. Athma Jayaprakash, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce gave the welcome address, Dr. Devipriya V., Principal inaugurated the programme and Mr. Jithesh C.P. gave Vote of Thanks. More than 100 students attended the programme.
Seminar on Research Methodology
A class on Research Methodology was organised by the Department of Economics on 12-01-2022. Around 80 students from all the batches of Economics attended the programme. A presentation on Research Methodology was given by our resource person Dr. Shaheed Ranzan C. P., Associate Professor, PG Department of Economics, Govt Arts and Science College, Meenchanda. Students discussed and clarified their doubts with the resource person. Lt. Dr. Sindhu Krishnadas gave welcome address. Principal Dr. Devipriya V. gave the inaugural address and Ms. Sruthi P. gave the Vote of thanks.
Entrepreneurship Development Programme –Workshop on Poster Making
ED Club conducted an online workshop on poster making on 08-09-2021 Wednesday in association with JCI Kallai. The resource person of the session was Bineesh, Trainer JCI Calicut. 55 students who have registered for the workshop participated in the programme. He made a demonstration on preparation of different posters and invitation cards with the help of CANVA poster making App. All the participants made different varieties of posters, brochures etc. Smt. Soniya, member JCI Kallai delivered a welcome address to the session and Smt. Dhanya Krishna co-ordinator of the ED Club extended the vote of thanks.
